ilabb family rips at World Time Attack Challenge in Sydney
The ilabb drift family jumped the ditch to World Time Attack Challenge over the weekend, and what a weekend it was. Mad Mike Whiddett and Darren Kelly left it all on the track, with both drivers entertaining in all their runs.
Mad Mike was the first to impress as he qualified first with a 99 in the international drift challenge, showing exactly what the judges were looking for.
Darren Kelly (Nissan GTR R35) and Matt Hill (Nissan 200SX) were the first to square off in battle. Kelly came away the winner but was set to battle Mad Mike Whiddett (Maxda RX8 SP3) in the second round who had the first-round bye.
Darren and Mike both lined up against each other to fight for a top 8 position. The battle went Mikes way but after a solid but slippery run he unfortunately tore a hole in his sump an a ripple strip, losing oil.
Highest of fives to both Mike and Darren for helping show an epic crowd a weekend full of world class drifting and entertainment, Mike ended up 5th overall, and Darren came in 14th behind Alex Sciacca.
We can’t wait to see how these top drivers progress through the next season yeeeeow!
