Mad Mike proves his Circuit Racing skills at Highlands 101
ilabb’s Mad Mike Whiddett has proven his ability at just his second ever circuit racing event. Teamed with Klark Quinn in the Darrell Lea STIX Mclaren 650S, Mike was keen to build on his impressive first appearance at Hampton Downs two weeks ago.
Highlands Motorsport Park hosted the final round of the Australian GT Endurance Championship as well as the 101 Endurance series where Australian and New Zealand drivers of the fastest circuit model super cars battled it out for the overall win.
Mike’s teammate Klark Quinn came in 3rd in the final Australian GT Endurance Championship which was enough for him to take out his third overall championship.
Qualifying for the 101 race saw Mike exemplify his aggressive driving style and his skill with speed as he finished with a 5th place in the Driver A quali. Quinn also smashed qualifying to get the team to 7th overall heading into the final 101 laps.
The crowds didn't miss Mike in his comfort zone though, as MADBUL put on a show in between races. It's a real challenge going from circuit racing, to throwing yourself sideways into the corners, and back to circuit racing. Drifters aren't used to slowing down.
Unfortunately Mad Mike’s race was cut short with Quinn not even making it behind the wheel due to a flat tyre and overheating in warm up and engine problems developing in the 43rd lap. It wasn’t the best end to the series but was a great weekend with Klark’s AGE win and Mike’s incredible form.

Congrats to the boys for a top effort, we can’t wait to see Mike doing some more circuit driving (in between his drifting of course)!
