The Ebisu Circuit high is up in the mountains of the Fukushima Prefecture and is often referred to as the spiritual home of drift. Over the years this mega track has hosted many epic battles between some some of the best drift car drivers in the world. The second round of the Formula DRIFT Japan was held on the Higashi Circuit, featuring a 420m long straight and 20 pit garages.

The finals day rolled around quickly for Mike after some extreme wet weather beforehand in qualifying. The sunshine turned up and dried out the track perfectly for the Top 32 battles to get started. Mad Mike Whiddett was second on the grid, up against another FD RX-7 driven by Yamamoto, only just making it out on the track in the nick of time after Kawato and his crew had to work to repair a broken throttle cable which happened in the earlier practice session. With minutes left, HUMBUL made its way to the start line.

Mike then progressed through to the top 16 to line up against Andy Grey, who was the 2016 Japanese Formula DRIFT Champion. Knowing it was going to be an epic battle, Mike threw down and left it all out on the track with aggressive lead runs and big flick entries that require massive commitment. After four battles Grey edged out Whiddett to progress though and take out the event.
