Townley, Natzke and Berglund take on NZ 2016 Summercross
The NZ ilabb MX fam packed up over the Christmas break and headed towards Whakatane to take on the mega annual Honda Summercross motocross.
Summercross is a national Motocross event that has become a bit of a tradition for the summer break. Held over two days it hosts over 500 riders running more than 19 classes with thousands of spectators made up of friends and family of all the riders. It’s two days of jam packed action!
The track is full of variables, with a concrete start pad, difficult sand track and back to back sprint races it keeps all the riders on their toes and is a true test of fitness and technique.
Josiah Natzke took to it like the champ he is with a clean sweep of wins. Leaving the day unbeaten, with 5 holeshots, 5 wins, and a first place trophy for his MX2 class.
ilabb legend Ben Townley showcased class, technique and speed through out the day moving through the field at pace. Unfortunately, after a DNF he was unable to move any higher that 5th in the overall points in his MX1 class.
ilabb Swiss rider Caroline Berglund made sure her name was known in the women’s class. The #33 rider stayed up at the front consistently through out her races and finished a mega 2nd overall behind Courtney Duncan.
Solid effort from the whole fam! Keep in locked on the EDIT for more moto news as the season continues yeeeow!
